In this early hands-on experience of Strider on the PS4,  we get a first glimpse of the cold wintry streets of Kazakh  packed full of soldiers, automated turrets and frightened citizens. This remarkable mix of Russian architecture and dystopian element marks the stage for Strider, coming out on Playstation 4 and Playstation 3 next month.  Set on earth's alternate future, we see our home planet governed by the mysterious villain known as Grandmaster Meio. Our hero Hiryu the youngest recruit of the Strider program has accepted the task of eliminating Grandmaster Meio, putting an end to his global tyranny.

The opening sequences sees Hiryu arriving in Kazakh City, immediately tangled in conflict. The game is set on a side-scrolling view, jam packed full of non-stop fast paced action combat. As Hiryu players will get to explore Kazakh and earn upgrades and power ups, which allows them to access  locked  maps. The main action is focused on Hiryu as he dashes across rooftops, up and down walls  destroying all who stand in his way thanks to his powerful Cypher plasma weapon.

As players maneuver around the environment of Kazakh  executing breathtaking combos, they can expect a smooth glitch free Hiryu on the PS4 as the screen erupts with incredible lighting effects,
laser fire, smoke and the amputated parts of soldiers
foolish enough to challenge our dragon ninja warrior.
Expect an action packed game from start to end, as the tension
rarely ever slows down, especially at
the beginning of the first section of the campaign.

Controlling Strider with the new DualShock 4 is perfect, the controls feel responsive and satisfying, especially when attacks land their intended target. Combine this with the crunching sound effects and on-screen feedback and what you get is a  perfect blend of cocktail-beat-em-up-fun.  Players can access the worlds map by pressing the touchpad, which is also full of useful info.

If you can manage to spare a moment from the wild on-screen action. You may appreciate the city of Kazakh in all its futuristic glory. You will discover a world full of massive high-rise buildings that can be seen in the background rising up through the snow covered backdrops. With so much to see, but little time to stop and admire, you must keep your focus and reflexes sharp as you fight through various locations towards the ultimate final face off between Hiryu and Grandmaster Meio.

If you'd like to discover more about the history of Strider you can read our article of how Strider first began here.
