First Impressions From New Mad Max Gameplay Reveal Trailer

You Will Survive Because You Are Max

April 23rd, 2015 By Dean Howard

Mad Max Out Sept 1st, 2015 - Learn More

Avalanche Studios have been keeping a very low profile since last year's Mad Max announcement, but today John Fuller Senior Producer at Avalanche has finally revealed a gameplay teaser from the upcoming game on PS4. The 4 minutes long gameplay trailer does appear to use some very unusual camera angles that puts you right in the thick of the fun and action

The game follows closely to the original movie with Max having nothing but his thirst for revenge fueling his rage after his wife and daughter were taken from him. On the verge of death Max uses his will to survive to escape before traversing through the sun scorched deserts to find refuge. Once there Max begins to build a new vehicle (The Magnum Opus) and improve his skills to punish those who wronged him.

First of all I am glad Avalanche Studios did not plan to release this game based off the new Mad Max film with Tom Hardy. Developers tend to rush movie inspired games using Hollywood's PR to push their launch which in my opinion almost certainly results in poor development work, limited content and laggy gameplay.  Mad Max however  looks great. I really enjoyed this detailed teaser trailer as Max uses his hands and weapons found within the environment to brawl with multiple enemies at once. It's great to see Avalanche taking this approach to their development style as not many games except for Bloodborne, Batman Arkham and Assassin's Creed series allow for these types of fighting combat mechanics where players can use the environment to unleash a world of pain.

The game is set in a huge open post apocalyptic world, using a combination of driving, fighting and a little bit of puzzle solving to find secret locations, collect scrap metal for spare parts and improve your position by building alliances with different faction groups.

Mad Max will be available on PS4 from September 1st 2015
