What To Do When Starting Out In DRVIVECLUB
October 12, 2014 By Mont Brown.
DRIVECLUB is now officially out and after a few days behind the wheel of Evolution Studio's ambitious racer, we would like to share our experience and helpful tips on becoming a legendary speed racer in the socially connected game.
You will first want to get familiar with DRIVECLUB's control system for each vehicle, regardless of what controller you use from the DualShock 4 to the special PS4 compatible Thrustmaster T80 and T300RS steering wheels.
Evolution has done a great job replicating each car to its original copy, both in look, feel, handling and sound. For example when driving a Ferrari 599 GTO, we would recommend some level of common sense especially when going round bends at 190 MPH.
To make DRIVECLUB the most authentic racing experience ever, evolution has dialed down the level of auto assistance most casual racers may come to expect from titles like Need for Speed. This does make DRIVECLUB a lot more challenging so expect loads of bumps and scrapes along the way as you learn to master and tame each car.
Try not to rely too much on breaks, instead learning to drift round corners could be the major difference between a tightly contested win. We would recommend gently pressing the handbrake when you hit top speed as this momentum will help you sling shot round corners, while maintaining your position. Getting penalty for hitting other cars within the game won't affect your overall score very much so don't be afraid to get a little rough and dirty against other drivers on the track.
What makes DRIVECLUB a truly unique experience is in its social elements, participating in social activities, joining club's and working as a team with friends is a great way of gaining rewards, while making money to unlock new cars and other vehicle enhancements. Gone are the days when car racing was just a solo affair with only computer generated AI's to test your skill. With DRIVECLUB you can easily get on PlayStation's network and seek out events even if your friends are not online.
Ultimately we would recommend taking your time to practice and don't be scared to make mistakes as you learn to become a driving legend on DRIVECLUB's global leaderboard.
