Exo-Suits Is Not The Future Of Advanced Warfare

FPS fans lock and load as new information about Treyarch's latest project Black Ops 3 has been revealed. The image and video above appears to be of a mysterious looking super soldier with bionic arms. Unlike Sledge Hammer's Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare which had soldiers in exo-suits. It looks like Treyarch's  super soldier has gone through some sort of Robot-Cop style transformation process with major body parts from his head, hands, chest and upper thigh replaced with mechanical parts.

Black Ops 3 will be the first title to launch on next-gen systems and according to Call of Duty's official description, the game is set in a “twisted future where a new breed of Black Ops soldiers emerges and the lines are blurred between our own humanity and the technology we created to stay ahead, in a world where cutting-edge military robotics define warfare.” Just like previous releases the game will feature 3 unique modes: Campaign, Multiplayer and Zombies.

Now I totally understand the need for developers to constantly push the boundaries when it comes to graphical improvements on next gen hardware but I am also a firm believer on the saying, "if it ain't broken don't fix it."

First Person Shooters have long since needed a new injection of life but I found the extra additions in Advanced Warfare took away from the realistic elements in previous Call of Duty titles.  This may possibly be because we are yet to experience what it feels like to use this technology but the idea of exo-suits felt more like a very worn out novelty gimmick than a true advancement in warfare.

I found the exo-suits to be annoying especially in multiplayer modes where everyone and their grandmothers only ever seem to super jump and boost all over the place like giant flies. Maybe I am just into the classics but I think an idea that revolved around modern soldiers going back in time to change history would be a much more interesting idea. That way we could get rid of the exo-suits and play in a realistic era based of the original World Wars.

I am sure Black Ops 3 will no doubt sell a truck load once it launches next year but I do hope we get back to original style shooters once the market is no longer being flooded by futuristic First Person Shooters.

What do you think of the new announcement? Do you disagree with my opinion on getting rid of the Exo-Suit style gameplay in Black Ops 3? Leave your thought and comments below.
