Don't Shoot Yourself In The Foot Konami
April 13th, 2015 By Dean Howard
A few days ago Donna Burke a voice actress on the highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain came out on Twitter defending Hideo Kojima, stating "upper management at Konami are making a huge mistake firing a genius and the projects overall budget has been reduced." The internet went wild as fans of the series took to social media expressing their outrage by this decision.
The term Plaxico comes from the urban dictionary and it means to shoot yourself in the foot which is what Plaxico Burress a former NFL athlete playing for the New York Giants accidentally did to himself ending his highly lucrative career with the Club.
True Metal Gear Solid fans are just as close to Kojima as they are to the long running series and Konami needs to realize that getting rid of him from the brand will cost them a lot more than they are prepared to gamble.
Since this news broke it looks like something may have changed as Donna Burke the VO actress has since retracted her statement via Facebook today saying,
“Konami is correct in that Kojima has not actually been fired. As I stated previously he and his team are still working hard on getting the game out. My sincere apologies to Konami, Hideo Kojima and the fans for giving the wrong impression.
I was trying to add my voice to Otsuka-san pleading with the fans to not abandon MGSV because of the stuff happening at Konami and to throw my support behind Kojima and everyone who has worked over the last five years and is working to make this game the greatest ever.
Kojima himself confirmed in a statement that he was still ‘100 per cent involved’ in the completion of The Phantom Pain, and was ‘determined to make it the greatest game I've directed to date’. So my apologies for upsetting you all.”
