Over 6 Million Playstation 4 Units Sold Worldwide
March 4th, 2014, by Maya Mayfield
Playstation's VP of marketing John Koller has updated us with some exciting sales figures today. According to John, Playstation 4 has now surpassed the 6 million worldwide units sold so far after the successful release in Japan over a week ago. What is even more surprising is the data collected showing what gamers are doing when they power up their next-gen PS4 consoles. John tells us that in the USA over 90% of Playstation 4's are reported to be online, allowing gamers to connect with each other for competitions or simply sharing the greatness experience with friends.
There have been over 3.6 million live broadcasts, and more than fifty-six million viewers watching games being played live on PS4 via Twitch and Ustream. From January 1st, john confirms that PS4 players have accounted for over 20% of daily broadcasts on Twitch, with more than a whopping 100 million shares via the Dualshock 4 wireless controller through social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter.
An example of this is where spectators can type a set of predetermined key words like "woof, woof" while viewing a live streaming game like the horro survival game Outcast and the player will hear the sound of a dog barking during gameplay.
John also conformed the release of some exciting new games coming to PS4 like Dynasty Warriors 8 Xtreme Legands out this March and the highly anticipated Daylight making its world debut in April.
