DriveClub is a socially connected racer set for an October 7 launch date exclusively on PlayStation 4. It was initially meant to be released last year November 13 along with the PS4, but had to be delayed due to further tweaks from the development Studio. Since then the team at Evolution Studio have been extremely busy making sure the socially connected element of DriveClub and its interface - dubbed the "dynamic menu has been seamlessly integrated into the game. On top of all this, the team have also been working on a companion app set for launch day.

From last year to now,  DriveClub has seen some very major and minor tweaks from our initial hands-on. One of the most obvious upgrades has to be in the visuals department. Although Driveclub has always been visually stunning from day one, Evolution Studios have been working tirelessly on every single detail of the game, perfecting the smallest details to create fifty stunning looking cars, racing tracks and landscape all in native 1080.

At the beginning of each race, your driver gets behind the wheel of a beautifully re-created vehicles either from the right or left depending on the vehicles model type. Once inside, you are instantly dropped into a very impressive life-like realization of your car's cockpit. The gauges light up and the motor engine roars appropriately before the race starts.

To create the hyper dynamic sound effects of each vehicles component from the sound of the gauges to the purring engine, Evolution Studios used multiple microphones capturing aural aspects both from the interior and exterior of each real life vehicles. These subtle but very crucial details is what makes Driveclub feel alive and is recommend to experience this auditory effect using the PS4's gold wireless headset to truly appreciate that level of creative detail.

While driving, the landscapes and environments take you on a visual delight from the amazing mountain peaks that draw closer to the leaves falling of trees while you speed through the tracks.  Along with the graphical improvements, players are now able to adjust what time of day they wish to race and the rate at which time passes. So for example if you speed up time to 15x, 30x, or even 60x you should be able to begin a race at the break of dawn, viewing the sunset as it goes down the horizon on lap 4, finishing the race with the stars sparkling from the night sky by the time you are done.

Evolution has also incorporated elements into Driveclub catered to giving gamers a sense of progression, not just from winning races but through engaging challenges that will test you on each event. Pulling off extra-long drifts, reaching specified velocity or maintaining a high average speed during the course of a race are just some of the examples gamers can use to inch closer to unlocking new cars, events, decals, and much more.

Pre-Order Driveclub Today
Controlling a vehicle in Driveclub is fairly straight forward, pull the R2 trigger to fire up the gas while L2 engages the breaks. The left stick is used for steering and the right for looking around. Driveclub also features a motion controlled system accessed via the menu options. Using Motion sensor controls via the DualShock 4's integrated accelerometer and gyroscope enables perfect correlation with the game’s in-car cockpit view. Tilting the Dual-Shock 4  right or left, while looking at your hands on the steering wheel moving in perfect synch on screen really is spectacular, making your driving experience feel much more natural to driving in real life.  The option to use traditional analog stick control is of course available but we think most of you will prefer the motion control options once you experience the way the vehicle operates in this mode.

Driveclub is a game for racing fans. It is cleverly designed to not only be for hardcore fans, but casual gamers looking for an opportunity to get behind the wheel of some of the worlds best super cars. The Socially integrated aspect also helps to bring racing fans together in a fun competitive way, regardless of their driving skills or ability. Stay tuned for the full Driveclub  review in October and grab your copy of Driveclub today.
