The Astronauts latest occult mystery The Vanishing of Ethan Carter looks to be one to keep an eye out for. The small team of 8 developers responsible for games like Bulletstorm and Painkillers are making their PS4 debut with this occult mystery thriller, The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter.

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a story-driven mystery thriller that focuses on exploration and discovery. The game will feature no combat mechanics or use of explosives, explains Adrian Chmierlarz founder of The Astrounoauts. Players will take on the role of Paul Prospero a detective who specializes in the occult.

After getting a disturbing letter from Ethan Carter, Paul sets ofs on a perilous journey to rescue the boy at his home town of Red Creek Valley, where once he gets there quickly discovers things are much worse than he'd first anticipated.

Ethan has disappeared  in the midst of a disturbing murder, which Paul soon comes to realize  might not be the only strange incident he must investigate in Red Creek's creepy town. Gamers will play in the first person view, exploring and interacting with the world in order to get to the truth behind Ethan's disappearance and this strange ghostly town.

Our Thoughts . . .

Being a huge fan of mystery based thriller movies, I was immediately intrigued by The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. The game looks to inspire sweaty palms and an eerie feeling of uneasiness while you explore the luscious greenery and mountains peeks of Red Creek Valley. Taking inspiration from classic early 20th century writers like Stefan Grabinski and Algernon Blackwood, The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter looks to leave a lasting impression on gamers long after the mystery has been solved and from this head splitting opening intro trailer, we think The Astronauts are looking to do just that.
