FBI Now Investigating Lizard Squad
August 24th, 2014 By Maya MayfieldHouston We Have A Problem |
Several gaming servers including PlayStation's network, Blizzard Battle.net, Grinding Gear Games' Path of Exile and Leagues of Legends have all been under a DDos attack for over several hours, bringing the gaming industry to a stand still. In a string of tweets the cyber attack group calling themselves the Lizard Squad has claimed full responsibility for the attacks.
The situation is still on going with John Smedley President of Sony Online Entertainment being affected by the group having gone as far as having his San-diego bound flight diverted to Pheonix over claims that a bomb was on-board his plane. Since this incident the situation has now become a matter of National security with the FBI handling this matter directly.
Our Thoughts . . .
The Cyber terrorists known as Lizard Squad appear to be a lot more sophisticated than we previously anticipated, after having successfully shut down so many servers as well as a personal threat to SOE's President John Smedley, it leads us to believe this is far more personal than anticipated. The reason for the attacks appear to go beyond just shutting down servers for sake of notoriety since this recent stunt by the group does show they also have access to personal information and movements of prominent figure heads within Sony and probably other gaming organizations.
With the FBI now involved, we may see this group quickly going under ground, but I doubt this is the end we will see of this group. Maybe we need to call Watch_Dogs Aiden Pearce to figure this thing out and put a stop to this crazy fiasco once and for all.
We will keep you posted as this story develops.
