2014 has been a bit of a slow year as far as AAA gaming options are concerned, but with the upcoming launch of Destiny next week September 9th and Dragon Age Inquisition on their way, gamers can at least look forward to something exciting to keep them busy into the New Year. For those looking beyond the slim pickings of 2014. We have put together the top 5 most anticipated role playing games of next year for you to check out. So without further ado, lets begin.


1) Dead Island 2

Dead Island 2 is the first of our most anticipated action rpg's of 2015.  Set several months after the horrific events that took place on Banoi, the US government has now placed California under quarantine after another Zombie outbreak. The once idealistic Golden State with its sandy beaches and perfect weather has now become a bloody paradise for those trapped there. From the recent E3 trailer to the early gameplay footages at Gamescom 2014, Dead Island 2 is definitely one to watch. According to Deep Silver, the game will feature  real locations from the Golden State, including Venice beach, Santa Monica and many of San Francisco's famous landmarks. There will also be a ton of weapon customizations giving players new creative ways of slicing, dicing, frying and freezing the walking dead.

2) Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Currently under development by Warhorse Studios, Kingdom Come: Deliverance is an upcoming role-playing video game, set in Europe's medieval 15th century. Based on accurate historical events and realistic content, Kingdom Come: Deliverance will be a single player adventure with far reaching quest lines and cutting edge social interactive emerging gameplay. The game will also feature accurate clothing, armor and combat techniques from the 15th century and real-life  redeveloped castles.

The game will take place in the Kingdom of Bohemia, which is part of modern-day Czech Republic.
You will take on the role of Henry a son of a blacksmith, after the death of his entire family by the invading army. Henry will set out on an epic adventure of revenge, but also to restore rulership and order to the rightful heir of Bohemia.

3) Persona 5

Persona 5 is the latest edition in Atlus 's cult role-playing game series, currently being developed for PS4 and PS3. The game was initially meant to launch on PlayStation 3 this year, but with Atlus based Tokyo developers currently working on a separate PlayStation 4 version, the studio has decided to delay the launch until 2015.


The Persona franchise has been one of Sony's primary assets since the 90's with Atlus having made loads of editions for PS1, PS2, PS3 and Sony's handheld devices.

Director Katsura Hashino has teased, "Persona 5 will be about breaking out of the oppressive chains that keep us bound so we may find our true self," hence the image above. Despite very little info about Persona 5, the game has received overwhelming reactions and anticipation within PlayStation's community members.

4) Bloodborne

Bloodborne is an upcoming action role-playing game under development by SCE Japan Studio for the PS4. The game is being directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki famous for his work with Demon's Soul and Dark Souls. Announced at this years E3 2014, Bloodborne tells the story of  an ancient city called Yharnam, abandoned after a terrifying curse which has left most of its remaining citizens violent and crazy. You must navigate this mysterious place to find out the truth behind the curse, while fighting to survive the deranged inhabitants of this forgotten city.

5) The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Last but certainly not least is the highly anticipated, The Witcher 3, set to launch on the 24th of February 2015. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the final conclusion to the epic story of the witcher Geralt of Rivia, the franchise's  main protagonist, whose adventures has been told throughout previous versions.

Starting where The Witcher 2 left off, those who sought to exploit Geralt are now gone. Geralt sets off on a personal journey as the world around him begins to change. This mission takes place during a time of great suffering as a mysterious army invades the Northern Kingdom, leaving a trail of blood along their path and it is up to  Geralt to put a stop to their killing rampage.
