Independent Game 'Witness' Takes on Larger Developers In the Playstation 4 Arena
PREVIEW: The Witness, PS4
From all the games that was shown off on the new consoles at E3, it wasn't the mega-budget ones that got us the most excited.
We have to admit, the graphics on a number of the bigger games like Battlefield 4 and Destiny does look wonderful.
Those games do fit into a very familiar genre, we are all very well accustomed to, run, point gun, shoot, repeat.
It was an indie developers game exclusive for the PS4 that had us very excited.
The Witness was not created by some large publishing company with tons of coders.
It's the work of one man and his little team of gamers. Jonathan Blow.
His most-famous work previously was Braid.
If you haven't seen or play it I recommend you check it out it.
The Witness is created on an island that you are allowed to explore in any manner you wish.
Hidden across this strange island are 10 areas with a large range of puzzles hidden around the environment. Complete seven of those areas and you'll be able to unlock a gold structure located in the middle of the island for the most challenging puzzles.
It's set from a first person view, and the music in the background as you walk around the island is lovely.
There are around four hundred Puzzles in total hidden inside the islands structure. It is set to have you banging your head against a wall trying to figure it out.
The Witness is being launched at the start as a PS4 exclusive.
This is a sign that Sony are giving more time to indie developers to work on innovative and more cost-effective games.
The Witness is going to be one of the best release this year on the PS4 and we can vouch on it.
