Sony PS4 Controller Is Keeping The Light Bar Permanently On

Sony's future DualShock four controller light bar for PlayStation 4 isn't designed to turn off. The neon blue looking light bar is located at the back of the new hand-held controls. Sony's Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida confirmed on Twitter.

The light bar is intended to be used with the PlayStation Eye camera and it helps in detection of motion control, this is a similar concept to the Move controllers. It is meant for developers, when creating new functions in their games, for example:  The health bar in Killzone: Shadow Fall.

In a direct response on Twitter if the Light bar can be deactivated to conserve the controller's battery, Yoshida simply replied, "no."
