EA's PlayStation 4 is going to carry an RRP of £54.99 in the United Kingdom, five over the current-generation RRP.
Confirmation of EA's next-generation valuation was disclosed in a FAQ with GAME, that states:
"At the moment, the only publisher who are verifying prices of their next generation games are EA, and they are attaching a value of £54.99. No other game developers have confirmed cost, We'll keep you up to date of our listings as and once this happens. And if the value changes before release day, you'll always pay the lowest price."
Except for a very few games. Current-generation of titles generally retail for £49.99 in Great Britain. Recent releases in the FIFA and Call of Duty franchises have both carried a much higher £54.99 RRP.
But despite the higher price planned for next-gen, RRP is not generally indicative of retail costs. Games typically float round the £39.99 price-point on the high street.
It isn't however known whether next-gen titles are sold for full RRP at launch or carry a much more affordable price tag, but on-line retailers are presently asking for full whack.
EA includes an assortment of titles in retail stores for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, as well as launch window titles like NBA Live 14, FIFA 14, Need For Speed Rivals, and Madden 25, Mirror's Edge, Star Wars: front line, Titanfall and much much more to come.
