Sony's brand new wireless head-mount the HMZ-T3W is on exhibition at the IFA in Berlin today. The 3D display is lighter than its previous model weighing in at (320 grams to the predecessor 330) and it feels more comfortable to wear for long periods of time, due to its brand new ergonomic user friendly design. The battery can last up to seven hours, and it can be connected to smartphones.
The display screens are two OLED ones with 1280×720 pixel resolution which in theory results to a virtual field of view of 750″ at a distance of 20 meters. The 3D Display does come with a headset, but you can use your own.
It will be available from November and will cost $1700 US dollars, and €1300 in Euros.
We will have to wait and see if sony intends to announce a more affordable version of this unit, with VR capabilities at TGS for the Playstation 4.
