What Will Become of Twitch After Amazon's 1 Billion Acquisition

What The Future Holds For TwitchTV

August 25th, 2014 By Dean Howard

Its unbelievable to think that only after 3 years of Twitch being around, the company has now been sold for a whopping one billion dollars. As CEO Emmett Shear and staff celebrate their new deal. Twitch Streamers who have come to rely on the broadcasting network as part of their income stream maybe wandering what the future now holds for them under the Amazon Banner.

To answer this question accurately will obviously require a crystal ball, but we can take a look at other companies that Amazon has bought in the past to get an idea of what they possibly intend to do with the game broadcasting network.

We wasn't surprised by todays update by Emmett Shear CEO of Twitch, as amazon have been expressing interests in getting into the multi-billion dollar gaming industry for quite some time.
This recent acquisition from the online retail giant is no doubt just another step towards the evolutionary road towards competing alongside the ranks of Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo in future.
As you can see from Amazon's fire TV and controller device created for android games.

On further research of the online retail giants, we think this deal couldn't have come at a much better time as more gaming developers and publishers look to cut production costs by supplying their products digitally. Amazon being the number one resource for products online are in a prime position to capitalize on such shifts in game and sale trends. Twitch has become the number one broadcasting service for both industry members, gamers and viewers. Amazon's recent acquisition of the brand will allow the company to place their game related brand right in front of the hundreds and millions of viewers that tune in daily to watch their favorite video game or industry event.

We personally think this deal is a good thing for all parties concerned as it will help to further create stability and support for Twitch's infrastructure.

Check out this interesting slideshare we discovered, highlighting all the companies you may or may not know that is actually owned by Amazon.com and now add twitch to the growing list.
