The PlayStation 4 is just starting to spread its wings a year after its global unveiling and Sony are already talking PlayStation 5.  Unlike past generation consoles, Playstation 5 may not be a physical hardware system according to Sony Vice President Masayasu Ito. In an interview with Nikkei, Mr Ito said, "I think there is going to be a PlayStation 5, but I don’t know what shape it will have. It could be Physical or based in the cloud."

It's great to know  Sony are planning on releasing a new console sometime in the distant future, but with the technology of the cloud still very much in its early stages for some across the world, I doubt many will be able to enjoy the super fast speeds most of us are accustomed to over in North America, Europe and Asia. This could really be the deciding factor as shutting off millions of Sony fans to digital only streaming games in the cloud would not be a very wise move for the company.

Maybe this could change by the time the new console launches. I do think everything will ultimate go towards the way of digital streaming eventually as it will save developers and publishers millions in manufacturing costs but its hard to see this happening on the Playstation 5.  Maybe Playstation 6 might be the time to say good buy to physical copy games for good.

What do you guys think? Would you buy a PS5 if it were cloud based only?
