Watch Dogs Delayed: New Release Date April - June 2014.
By Maya Mayfield15th October 2013
Ubisoft announced today that their eagerly anticipated title Watch Dogs, will not be coming out this year. The news came amidst their earnings call with investors, confirming a new release date in the financial year Q1, meaning an April to June time frame. The game had been scheduled for release alongside the PS4's official launch date on the 15th November, but now won't be available until Spring 2014.
In a statement released to the press today. Watch Dogs development team said, "Our goals with Watch Dogs has always been to deliver something that represents what we wanted to see and experience in next-gen gaming. It is with this thought, that tough decision were made to delay Watch_Dogs release until next year Spring 2014."
The Watch Dogs development team also mentioned that it was important to not compromise on the quality of their game by rushing it to release without giving the game a well deserved final polish, considering how long they have been working at it.
We suspect the recent negative press from some of the recent videos of poor graphics quality on current gen ports, has been part of what has led Ubisoft to pull Watch Dogs back to the drawing board.
We think the Watch Dogs team definitely made the right decision on this, and hope they can now get the much needed time they deserve to make Watch Dogs one of the best looking, games on the current and next-gen consoles.
In other news relating to this story, Sony has shown their support by working with Ubisoft and partner retailers to find the best way to handle pre-order Watch Dogs Playstation 4 bundles.
In a statement to VideoGamer.com SCEE said, "This announcement is very recent, but we will be assisting Ubisoft and retail partners to best manage this situation."
No further news was reported on wether Sony would replace Watch Dogs with another Ubisoft title, or if they intend to pull the whole Watch Dogs bundle altogether.
Stay tuned, as we follow this story and keep you up to date on future developments as they happen.
Are you disappointed by Watch Dogs delay, or do you think Ubisoft made the right call?
