Battlefield 4 Naval strike lead gameplay designer Gustav Halling has revealed a few more details regarding the upcoming DLC expansion pack set for release later this month. In his detailing, Gustav said Naval strike will focus on ship-to-ship warfare that will feature changing maps to keep gamers on their toes.

Gustav said the teams biggest challenge during Naval strike's development was giving the battleships enough room on the maps to be useful and giving the infantry troops enough land to fight over. In order to truly showcase the sea and air combats, DICE decided to minimize the amount of land based vehicles on Naval strike giving spotlight to those vehicles of warfare instead.

This doesn't mean there will be no use for infantry units as they still have a pivotal role to play in Naval Strike by opening and closing floodgates to enemy bases, though their gun fights will be heavily affected by moving aircraft wreckage and falling submarines.

Air unit teams will have lots of space to navigate, however Gustav does mention that pilots will have to keep their reflexes extra sharp for new threats in the form of Heli-Mines, a gadget controlled by engineers which can block off paths for low-flying helicopters.

Players will also get access to the M320 GL gadget: A bran new grenade launcher that is able to fire 3 rounds of without reloading, at the effect of decreased splash damage. Premium Battlefield members will also get access to Naval Strikes expansion pack two weeks before it appears on worldwide release. Naval Strike will also feature 4 maps, 5 new weapons, the amphibious hovercraft, 10 assignments and the carrier assault mode.
