We have reports from an insider source via TechRadar that has blown the whistle on when Sony intends to reveal the PS4's very own virtual headset. According to the source  people will be very impressed by Sony's answer to the Oculus Rift. They also said Sony's Virtual Reality Headset development is coming along nicely and that the quality and resolution are looking really good.
The official unveiling for the new Playstation 4 Virtual Reality Headset is supposed to happen at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this coming March 17th 2014, according to the secret tipster.

The inside Source also said the reason the rumored virtual reality headset for the Playstation 4 which was expected to be revealed last year August at Gamescom 2013, and then at Tokyo's Game Show event in September never happened was because Sony wanted more time to tweak the unnamed device before its official announcement.

"Sony have taken a completely different approach to the development of its own VR unit, deliberately taken its time to polish and tweak the headset in-house first before its big announcement to other game developers," said the inside source.

We already know Sony has its own head-mounted display unit the HMZ-T3W pictured above and not the Playstation 4 headset we are referring to. According to the source this latest virtual reality headset is built primarily and specifically for the purpose of gaming only. This announcement if true will not really be a major surprise for most trend watchers since Playstation 4's lead system architect Mark Cerny had mentioned just this month that the introduction of virtual reality devices could be a major force in the gaming industry over the next few decades.

"Virtual Reality technologies could have a significant impact on the industry moving ahead," said Mark Cerny

We just have to wait and see if the information revealed by TechRadar's  inside source really is true when GDC 2014 arrives this March 17th. Until then can you imagine how awesome it will be to play DriveClub, Watchdogs, The Division, FFXIV, Elder Scrolls Online and The Order 1886 on a dedicated PS4 Gaming Virtual Reality Headset, with the Playstation 4 Gold Wireless 7.1 Surround Stereo Headset together? . . .  Mind blown!

PS4 welcome to the next-generation of gaming.
