The movie E.T. was an instant classic when it launched back in 1982. The film starred a young Henry Thomas as Elliot on his quest to help an Alien 'go home'. Produced by Steven Spielberg the movie has grossed over 35 million worldwide and is still very popular today.

Unfortunately for E.T. that is where the success ends. Atari's attempt's back in 1983 to launch E.T. the video game resulted in it being labeled one of the worst games in history. (Yikes!) The title did so poorly that it was rumoured to have been part of what many called the tombstone of the gaming industry 30 years ago. Of course those who spoke with such certainty back then would eat theirs hats if they saw the billion dollar generating industry today, but back then Atari Games E.T. did seem to be the final nail on the coffin.

Atari Games rare E.T. discovery in New Mexico is a testament to over 30 years of gaming history. They may have been worthless back then but will no doubt make their way unto various retail sites worth their weight in gaming gold soon enough.

E.T. will eventually "Go home" with collectors just not out of Planet Earth.
