Middle Earth Shadow Of Mordor is the story of Talion a man with a very big blade and a few scores to settle. Having witnessed the death of his entire family at the hands of Sauron's ruthless armies, Talion is out to avenge those who killed his loved ones.

This story of revenge is the foundation in which Monolith Games have based their upcoming Lord Of The Rings inspired game, out September 30th 2014 on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. Having got a chance to experience the gameplay, we have discovered just a few of Talion's skills for seeking retribution.

Choose Your Prey.
One of Talion's many skills is the ability to inspect the environment to find which commander from Sauron's army control the various sections of the map. Coming across one of these captains or soldiers on the battlefield, Talion can dominate their minds with his powerful wraith ability.

The Power To Influence Weak Minds
In the heat of War, Talion can snatch a weakened enemy, using his wraith powers to influence them, bending their will to fight alongside him in the thick of Battle. Talion can also snatch an enemy, interrogating them to gain important intelligence about the battlefield as well as finding out the location of the commanding captain.

Ignite a Riot
Once Talion has discovered who these commanding generals are within Sauron's ranks, he can tactically dominate their foot soldiers and personal body guards in order to create an internal struggle amongst the orc armies.

Using The Element of Speed
Among Talion's many skills, he can also use the element of speed to catch his enemies off guard. Players can do this by aiming their bow at a target and instead of shooting an arrow, if you press the cross button, Talion will move towards his target like a speed demon in a shadowy cloud, springing up to take out his target with a surprised kill.

Tame The Savaged Beast
The evil commanders and foot soldiers of Sauron's armies aren't the only things that can be dominated by Talion. Middle Earth is home to all types of monstrously wild beasts that Talion can also control. Influencing one of these giant brutes, Talion can hitch a ride on their backs to charge into an enemy thick war zone. These beasts can also become powerful allies, ferociously attacking and biting enemies once Talion dismounts.

The Walking Dead
As Talion is part Wraith, he is already technically dead, but his enemies are unaware of this. If he happens to come across a particular enemy that has killed Talion before in battle, Talion can cause them to panic thanks to the ground breaking Nemesis System which allows enemy's to recognize him, so annihilating them on your second attempt will be much more gratifying.

The Eyes of Talion Are Everywhere
Taking advantage of the lack of loyalty amongst the  Orcish community. Talion can keep a close watch on power struggles and ongoing feuds amongst Sauron's army behind the scenes, turning these internal grudges to your advantage.

Hack 'n' Slash Your Way To Victory
One of the great things we like about Middle-Earth: Shadow Of Mordor beyond all the mind controlling skills, is when it really comes down to it. Talion could just use his trusty blade and arrow to cut and shoot his way through enemy ranks. Monolith have been working on some very exciting swordplay mechanics, creating a warrior that is just as dangerous as the brutes he pursues. Talion can hack n slash his way through large groups of foes with devastating force, racking up combination with each strike that eventually leads to one of  several very satisfying finishing moves.
