Sony Strikes New Mario Bros Movie Deal With Nintendo

Let's Just Hope It's Not Starring This guy!

According to a report by Buzzfeed, a new Mario Bros movie series may be on the cards. This news comes after recent Sony emails were leaked to the press. Most of these Buzzfeed reports included a few emails of congratulations between producer Avi Arad and Sony Studio Chief Exec Amy Pascale on securing the deal and plans for the upcoming movies.

Despite Avi Arad's denial of the deal, the emails acquired by Buzzfeed between Pascale and Tom Rothman head of Tristar Pictures does suggest the movie should be animated. Another email this time from Sony Pictures President of Animation Michelle Raimo Kouyate shows her thanking Arad and saying she can already imagine 3-4 Mario Bros movies right out the gate.

If this report is true, this would be Nintendo's second chance to right the awful wrongs from the last live action Mario movie starring Bob Hoskins as Mario, after it tanked at the box office. Our suggestions would be to take the Pixar approach and try to get the writers behind the recent Big Hero 6 movie on board because that film rocked!
