How Playstation 4 Remote Play Works

Sony are introducing the Remote Play feature on the PS3 and upcoming PS4 consoles, but what exactly is remote play and how can it benefit gamers?
Remote play allows video and audio transmission from your Playstation 3, and Playstation 4 console via a wifi network to one of your handheld portable Playstation devices like the PS Vita, instead of the television.
As long as gamers are within the network transmission range, they can play their PS3 and PS4 home console games on their handheld devices.
The Remote play is still an optional feature on PS3, but Sony are making remote play a standard feature on PS4 games to PS Vita.
In addition Sony also plan to add cloud based remote play functions, allowing PS3 games to be played on Playstation 3, Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita in 2014 Via cloud gaming networks like Gaikai and Onlive.
