There have been a lot of reports concerning the guaranteeing of Playstation 4 pre-orders being available on launch day. Well it has come to light that this has apparently been part of Sony's precautionary measure to make sure that shops will have the consoles on shelves on day one of launch.

Sony apparently told high street retailers to stop guaranteeing release day delivery on pre-ordered PS4's, so that consoles will be available in store.  A high street retail source said, "Sony doesn't want people who can't purchase the Playstation 4 on launch day to buy an Xbox One instead."

When a representative from Sony was questioned about this, things were kept very obscure, stating,
"We do not talk about our release strategies, however we will say that the Playstation 4 is scheduled for a holiday season release."

You can't get anymore vague than that. Stay tuned and watch our countdown clock, as we keep you posted on all the latest Playstation 4 news.
