Fans of the classic sci-fi racer F-Zero may feel a sense of nostalgia when they see this new racing game in action. Developed by Refract a Seattle-based indie studio. The Distance is a survival racer which features intense arcade style racing in an explorable Tron-style world. Players must race through twisted, dangerous obstacles with death lurking round each bend for the unfocused drivers. Unlike most racers that have you doing laps, the Distance will challenge you to survive from point A to B.

Refract have developed an array of ultra cool concept cars with unique features that lets you boost, jump, rotate and fly. Instead of sticking to the tracks, players can take flight choosing alternate paths to win. From driving upside down, on walls, and through buildings there's no limits to what you can achieve.

This unique style of gameplay is taken to a whole new level in Multiplayer mode as Refract developer Jordan Hemenway tells us that boosting during a race can overheat your engines core system while pulling off cool stunts like backflips and barrel rolls will help cool it down.

Another fun multiplayer challenge to looking forward to is Tag mode. The aim is to try and remain being "IT" for as long as possible while other gamers give chase. To evade being captured you can pull of a variety of death defying moves like scaling up buildings or dive bombing thanks to one of the many aerial abilities available in each car.

The Distance is set for a 2015 launch date on PS4, however the team at Refract will be joining us at this years PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas where you can get more to grips with The Distance.

For more info why not check out their website here and tell us what you think of this upcoming racer in the comments below.
