PS4 PlayGo Feature and How It Works
By Maya Mayfield11th July 2013
Sony has added a new feature on the PS4 that's making eager fans very excited. The PS4 has 8GB of GDDR5 RAM to play with. Mark Cerny, the systems architect, had mentioned some of the amazing features coming to the PS4 at E3 2013, including Instant play. Simply put it means that owners of the next gen-console will be able to start playing the game they are downloading. Sony is calling this feature PlayGo.
This is excellent news, as gamers will no longer be forced to wait, for their games to fully download before they can get into the action.
This new feature should also help to speed-up the long patch installations that typically happen before being able to play. Fans of games such as battlefield should know exactly what we are referring to. The PS4 is built with a second chip, which will handle all the necessary patches and system updates.
There is a downside to the PlayGo system though. You will have to install the game to the PS4 hard drive. Sony could change this eventually, but there's no confirmation of that happening as yet. Mark Cerny said, "Though Gamers can play on Blue-Ray, they would have much faster loading times and streaming speeds if games were installed on the ps4 hard drive instead."
