Sony  dedicated most of their time during February PlayStation 4 announcement and the massive E3 conference to its embrace of game developers. A good portion of this including independent game developers of all sizes. These announcements have built positive feedback for Sony with both developers and consumers, but Sony is not just talking a good game, they have decided today that they are on the out-reach  to developers who have not started making games yet.

Sony has said that it is adding the PlayStation 4 to its PlayStationFirst Academic Development Program. PS4 dev kits will be made available to universities that currently have PlayStation Vita development kits. The company said that the program supports its goal of supporting independent creators and established studios by teaching students in PlayStation development.

The head of Academic Development for SCEE, Maria Stukoff said, “The next generation of Independent developers are now in education, PlayStationFirst is at the helm enabling students to gain skills for the future and for PlayStation console development by providing access to real professional tools”
